As part of the Queensland Government’s new energy conservation communities program, ENERGEX is working with local authorities in South East Queensland to promote awareness of electricity peak demand and energy conservation.

The energy conservation communities program is helping residents in selected local communities actively adopt energy efficiency methods in the home to reduce demand on the electricity network during peak times and promote awareness of other energy conservation practices.

Energy conservation is everyone’s responsibility and the energy conservation communities program will help local communities to be leaders in creating a more sustainable future.

ENERGEX is working with selected local councils across South East Queensland over how best to establish an energy conservation community in their area.  Earlier this year, an energy conservation community was established on the Sunshine Coast and from mid-July 2010 an additional energy conservation community will be established in Redlands.
